The Pigelleto Nature Reserve stretches across 862 hectares between the provinces of Siena and Grosseto. The reserve extends into the town of Piancastagnaio on the southeast of the Amiata Mountain. Established into the Tuscan Region in 1966, the nature park was once an important mercury mine in the Amiata Mountain and inside the reserve you will still find two inactive mines. |
